The Linear Quadratic Tracker on time scales

    Get PDF
In this work, we study a natural extension of the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) on time scales. Here, we unify and extend the Linear Quadratic Tracker (LQT). We seek to find an affine optimal control that minimizes a cost functional associated with a completely observable linear system. We then find an affine optimal control for the fixed final state case in terms of the current state. Finally we include an example in disturbance/rejection modelling. A numerical example is also included

Brain State in a Convex Body

    Get PDF
We study a generalization of the brain-state-in-a-box (BSB) model for a class of nonlinear discrete dynamical systems where we allow the states of the system to lie in an arbitrary convex body. The states of the classical BSB model are restricted to lie in a hypercube. Characterizations of equilibrium points of the system are given using the support function of a convex body. Also, sufficient conditions for a point to be a stable equilibrium point are investigated. Finally, we study the system in polytopes. The results in this special case are more precise and have simpler forms than the corresponding results for general convex bodies. The general results give one approach of allowing pixels in image reconstruction to assume more than two value

Gronwall-OuIang-type Integral Inequalities on Time Scales

    Get PDF
We present several Gronwall-OuIang-type integral inequalities on time scales. Firstly, an OuIang inequality on time scales is discussed. Then we extend the Gronwall-type inequalities to multiple integrals. Some special cases of our results contain continuous Gronwall-type inequalities and their discrete analogues. Several examples are included to illustrate our results at the end

Singular Second-Order Multipoint Dynamic Boundary Value Problems with Mixed Derivatives

    Get PDF
We study a certain singular second-order m-point boundary value problem on a time scale and establish the existence of a solution. The proof of our main result is based upon the Leray-Schauder continuation theorem

A role of the coefficient of the differential term in qualitative theory of half-linear equations

    Get PDF
summary:The aim of this contribution is to study the role of the coefficient rr in the qualitative theory of the equation (r(t)Φ(yΔ))Δ+p(t)Φ(yσ)=0(r(t)\Phi (y^{\Delta}))^{\Delta} +p(t)\Phi (y^{\sigma})=0, where Φ(u)=∣u∣α−1sgnu\Phi (u)=|u|^{\alpha -1}\mathop{\rm sgn}u with α>1\alpha >1. We discuss sign and smoothness conditions posed on rr, (non)availability of some transformations, and mainly we show how the behavior of rr, along with the behavior of the graininess of the time scale, affect some comparison results and (non)oscillation criteria. At the same time we provide a survey of recent results acquired by sophisticated modifications of the Riccati type technique, which are supplemented by some new observations

Stability for Generalized Caputo Proportional Fractional Delay Integro-Differential Equations

    Get PDF
A scalar nonlinear integro-differential equation with time-variable and bounded delays and generalized Caputo proportional fractional derivative is considered. The main goal of this paper is to study the stability properties of the zero solution. Results are given concerning stability, exponential stability, asymptotic stability, and boundedness of solutions. The investigations are based on an application of a quadratic Lyapunov function, its generalized Caputo proportional derivative, and a modification of the Razumikhin approach. Some auxiliary properties of the generalized Caputo proportional derivative are proved. Five illustrative examples are included

The Kalman filter for linear systems on time scales

    Get PDF
We introduce the Kalman filter for linear systems on time scales, which includes the discrete and continuous versions as special cases. When the system is also stochastic, we show that the Kalman filter is an observer that estimates the system when the state is corrupted by noisy measurements. Finally, we show that the duality of the Kalman filter and the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) is preserved in their unification on time scales. A numerical example is provided

A difference equation analogue of the generalized hypergeometric differential equation is defined, its contiguous relations are developed, and its relation to numerous well-known classical special functions are demonstrated

Uniqueness For An Inverse Quantum-Dirac Problem With Given Weyl Function

    Get PDF
In this work, we consider a boundary value problem for a q-Dirac equation. We prove orthogonality of the eigenfunctions, realness of the eigenvalues, and we study asymptotic formulas of the eigenfunctions. We show that the eigenfunctions form a complete system, we obtain the expansion formula with respect to the eigenfunctions, and we derive Parseval\u27s equality. We construct the Weyl solution and the Weyl function. We prove a uniqueness theorem for the solution of the inverse problem with respect to the Weyl function
